Bob worked for the Bismarck Fire Department for 23 years until his employment at Phoenix Investigations, Inc.  He became actively involved with the fire department’s origin and cause investigation unit in 1988.  Since that time he has been involved in all aspects of fire investigation. 

He was instrumental in founding the North Dakota Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators and is a past president of the chapter.  He is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and National Association of Fire Investigators. 

Bob is the first North Dakota origin and cause investigator to become certified by the International Association of Arson Investigators as a Certified Fire Investigator.  In 2003, he attended the National Association of Fire Investigators seminar at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky where he was certified as a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator, CVFI.
